A trip around the world, and a bedtime that never came.

Most mothers consider themselves smart. They claim to know what’s best for their children, and strive to make sure they always do just that. MOST mothers believe that. I now see why most mothers don’t take their small children on five hour long bus rides, half way across the state.

Our bus got here right on time (actually it ran about twenty minutes late). I spent the majority of that time trying to get him to take a nap. He was exhausted and made the trip miserable for me and the other passengers. He wasn’t having the whole sleep business. He was more interested in looking around at what was going on, and what everyone else was talking about to be bothered with sleep. After all, there was a lot going on there.

About ten minutes from our final stop sleep finally prevailed and he was over come by it. Only to be woken up ten minutes later when we got off the bus. Suddenly, he was wide awake. He had a ten minute power nap, and was ready to see the world now.

Because of this, his sleep was thrown way off and he didn’t get to sleep until after midnight. He had broken sleep, a total of about five hours. The next night, we all went to Silver Dollar City, exhausted from lack of sleep, and nerves shot from the screaming, but had a good time despite the circumstances. That night he slept like a rock :)

This trip has been difficult for us all, but we managed. I just wonder what a “smart” mother would do in this situation, because clearly I am not one. We did have fun, and continue to do so, if only the baby would sleep.
